Xzion Khrome is witnessing Zarkstormian history...his people actually care about the well-being of Earthlings. After the birth of his and his wife's son, Zachary Khrome, things take a dynamic turn. The young boy's very unique DNA has saved Zarkstormian lives, thus, they no longer have an interest in disrupting humankind and eradicating drug dependency from Earth. Now, their concerns lie with protecting the very people that, through a series of events, helped saved their lives and future generations. The Zarkstormian population has tripled, growing ever rapidly after the cure was rendered. All has occurred just in time, for a sinister extra-terrestrial presence has set its eyes on Earth to conquer and enslave.
In the midst of this, Xzion runs into unforeseen challenges, some of which aren't revealed until it is possibly too late. Xzion may have found love on planet Earth, but not everyone is so lucky. Hatred, paired with revenge, becomes an intoxicating cocktail for an enemy who hasn't forgotten Xzion's not so distant past as the 'XXX' serial killer, a figure who had wreaked havoc around the world until his last stint in Baltimore, Maryland. A plot is orchestrated to bring him to his knees and all the while, he must protect his child, his family and his people.
Xzion must keep his priorities in place, save his loved ones and keep the world safe all at once. Once a man with a heart made of ice, will he be able to bring the fire in order to eradicate the evil forces clawing at all he holds dear? Unleash the beast to find out...

“Addicted In Cold Blood – Tale of the Blood Diamond” is the sequel to Tiana Laveen’s “Addicted in Cold Blood”. This follow-up reveals Tiana Laveen's willingness "To Boldly Go where No WOMAN Has Gone Before". Her twist on this book is unique and frankly speaking took me by surprise. The book delves into a conceivable reality that depicts extra-terrestrials sentient beings with unique abilities living amongst humans and blending into society whilst being impacted by the daily ills of social unrest. What I found most interesting was the way Laveen introduces real-life events from history to the present to narrate the story in a way that had me visualizing the events unfolding (i.e. references to Area 51, Government Cover-ups of proof of Alien Visitation, the current drug epidemic in the inner city Baltimore area and the possible conspiracy connection between the issues etc). The reference of the Washington D.C./Baltimore area helped pique my interest because I happen to reside in the DC Metropolitan area and can easily imagine the mysterious events that occur in this book and the prequel.
Not to be outdone, the emotional "human side" of the story is revealed by how Laveen addresses current issues that are on-going in today's time and blends the events into her story line. She delves into same-sex relationships debate, as well as the issue of race, the war on drugs and “Scandal-like” government cover-ups - topics that are very much alive and well in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) and around the world.
As a "Trekkie", I have a weakness for a good sci-fi book narrated with a sexy twist.
Laveen introduces the reader to the alien character, Xzion, who is your 21st Century Super Soldier complete with classified, super-secret “save the world or else” mission. Her depiction of him and how he relates to the human race, resulting in the transformation of his alien ideology, mirrors the shifts in societal thinking that is occurring in the present day. This theme that Laveen subtly, yet thoroughly injects into the story basically had me looking up into the night sky and saying "hmmm, what if???"! What makes a good sci-fi book is if you can actually imagine it and it makes you go, “Hmmm”.
Yes, the book had me imagining what a movie version of this would be like.
That's how into this novel I got. To me, this was like a 21st Century Star Trek with an urban twist to it, mixed with a bit of “V” (old school alien invasion movie), complete with technological gadgets, alien intelligence and yes, alien passion. That Laveen is able to create an extra-terrestrial character so conceivable, which experiences a life-changing event with a human woman resulting in a collaboration of both for the greater good of the human and alien races, is impressive. She “Mind melds” emotions, action, sci-fi intelligence, suspense and yes… Steamy “Inter-Galactic” Sex.
I would really have loved to see a deeper more comprehensive back ground of Laveen’s take on the depiction of the precious stone called “The Blood Diamond” and its origins in this book, for her simple yet captivating alternate concept of “A Blood Diamond” (i.e. symbol of ransom paid for bloodshed in war using diamonds versus blood willingly preserved and immortalized within a diamond as a symbol of hope, peace and love).
"Addicted in Cold Blood – Tale of the Blood Diamond" reveals another of Laveen's talents as an excellent story-teller and author. Can you say, "Beam Me Up"?

This book is so well written. Love the flow, the action, the love story. Great thought and planning went into writing this book. Read this book!!!!!!!
Read the first book and loved it. So when I saw that there was a sequel, I immediately bought it and it was just as good.
I read her SAINT series and loved those as well. I think she's a very talent writer. I look forward to reading more of her books. I'm a huge fan.
Must say this was damn TERRIFIC!!
The most indepth Sci-Fi original to date!
Other ET life forms invade earth for diamonds until they learn of one precious gem unknown to man---
---XZION & JAYME'S CHILD ZACHARY!
If you think Xzion was deadly before the whole Zarkstormians ain't nothing to laugh at.
All HELL breaks loose between worlds with the most unexpected turn of events.
KUDOS!!
This is a sequel to Addicted in Cold Blood, and I enjoyed them both. Never was into the sci-fi type story line but this one here was an awesome read. I actually fell in love with an Alien name Xzion. He was sexy as hell, very hot and definetly an alpha male, and actually was a good guy. It was gruesome at times, but I was rooting for Xzion all the way.
He met his match when he met Jayme, a serious don't play police officer, with a drive to make a difference. Their differences became something in common as you continue to read this book. The combination brought you to a love story thatI refuse to die, and I really must say, was a match made in the heavens.
Highly recommend, especially if you're new to aliens , beasts and spaceships, it will open you to an adventure of another kind.
If you've read other reviews for Lady T, believe them. I have read several of her books, aside from being a truly gifted and creative, I find myself in awe of how her mind works. The WAY she combines pertinent social issues with out of the this world (yes I see the pun😀) love stories and extraterrestrials is....phenomenal. I read Addicted in Cold Blood before this one, but it can stand alone. Please, treat yourself to perhaps one of the greatest writers of our time, although she may never get the recognition as such. You can t go wrong with a Tiana Laveen book. This is the only one I read that starts a little slow but is well worth the time.
This was a very action packed sequel to addicted in cold blood so the chase for mankind to be safe for all came down to Xzion and Jayme with some help from their friends loved how Jayme family had to overcome hurt and a judgemental father and the fact that Lorenzo finds out all the rage held for revenge wasn't even have no merit rage built on lies and secrets and when Xzion takes Jayme to his home to show her his world i would have never thought that a book about Aliens and humans could be so entertaining but it always a good read when it has Tiana Laveen on the title
